Colosseum Codex: Frontier Hackathon Winners, Solana Data, ICM Report
Solana Data, Tiger Research ICM Report, Syndica Developer Deep Dive, Birdeye Solana Metrics
Big week for data nerds. The Solana Foundation launched an open data dashboard, Tiger Research dropped a 71-page institutional adoption report, Syndica published its monthly developer breakdown, and Birdeye dropped the official H1 2026 report packed with stats. The numbers are good for Solana all around.
But first... SOME BIG NEWS๐
Colosseum has announced the results of Frontier, its 5th hackathon and the largest crypto hackathon to date. More than 10,000 participants from 150+ countries submitted 2,857 projects. Phantom, Altitude, Arcium, World, Metaplex, Raydium, Reflect, and Coinbase joined the Solana Foundation as primary sponsors.
The Grand Champion is CrowdBrain, a robotics DePIN that trains users in simulation, qualifies them through QA, and routes operators to real robots for teleoperation and data collection. The team takes home $30,000 CASH (Phantom's USD stablecoin).
Beyond the grand champion, 25 additional teams were selected as top winners spanning DeFi, RWAs, gaming, payments, and AI-native products. A number of teams also received honorable mentions for strong submissions that didn't place.
An announcement of teams selected for Colosseum's next accelerator cohort is coming soon.
Congratulations to the winners, the honorable mentions, and everyone who submitted a project!

๐ฅ Solana Data
The Solana Foundation launched an open data platform giving developers, investors, and researchers a single dashboard for tracking network activity across the ecosystem.
The platform aggregates metrics including transaction volume, active wallet counts, validator performance, application-level usage statistics, developer activity, and ecosystem growth trends. Previously, this data was spread across block explorers and third-party tools that used different definitions, updated on different schedules, and sometimes returned conflicting numbers. The foundation standardized those definitions across the platform, so the numbers mean the same thing regardless of which metric you're looking at.
The dashboard is built for a range of users:
- Developers can monitor real-time network conditions and use the data to inform performance optimization without building a separate data pipeline.
- Investors and analysts get a consistent view of ecosystem health from a single source.
- Projects building on Solana can reference foundation-published metrics when communicating traction to outside partners or investors.
The platform is also designed to be readable for non-technical users who want to track high-level network health without interpreting raw onchain data.
The absence of an official data source had been a pain point for anyone evaluating the network from the outside. Independent tooling covered most of what builders needed, but there was no canonical reference for ecosystem-wide metrics, something that became more noticeable as institutional interest in Solana has grown. The foundation has described the platform as part of a broader push toward transparency and developer support infrastructure.
The platform is publicly accessible and requires no account or API key to use.
Having this data compiled from an official source makes it easy for anyone to get a picture of where the ecosystem actually stands.
๐ฆ Internet Capital Markets Report
Tiger Research and Orca co-published a 71-page report mapping how issuance, trading, and settlement are moving onto a single public blockchain. The report defines this as Internet Capital Markets (ICM) and documents where that shift stands today.
The thesis is backed by real activity. Tokenized real-world assets grew 257% in 15 months to nearly $20 billion by Q1 2026. Seven institutions including J.P. Morgan, State Street, Citi, Visa, and PayPal have run proof-of-concept or live transactions on Solana across use cases including commercial paper issuance, Treasury management, trade finance, and cross-border remittance.
The regulatory picture has also shifted: SOL was classified as a digital commodity, the GENIUS Act established stablecoin legal status, and the CLARITY Act passed the House.
Orca's section of the report covers its permissioned pool infrastructure, which lets issuers of regulated assets control at the token level who can hold and trade them, with atomic settlement and 24/7 liquidity. The underlying rails have processed over $500 billion in cumulative volume over five years with no smart-contract exploits.
The institutional adoption story on Solana gets a lot of discussion, and this report puts the names and numbers behind it.

๐จโ๐ป Solana Developer Deep Dive
Syndica published its monthly developer activity report for Solana, and the headline number is a 29% decline in active developers from the May 2025 peak, down to about 1,220.
The composition of that base has shifted, though. Professional developers now make up 55% of the total, the highest share since 2023, while hobbyist developers took the bigger hit, falling 47% from peak.
Development activity tells a different story: monthly commits, PRs, and reviews combined hit roughly 28,400, which is 1.7x the August 2022 cycle peak and 2.9x the late-2023 low. Reviews in particular are up 10x from the 2023 trough.
Roughly 270 new developers joined in May, down 51% from the 550-per-month peak, and 45% fewer were added in the first four months of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025.
On AI tooling, 18% of active developers used AI tools in May. Claude accounted for 79% of AI-coauthored commits and 64% of AI-coauthored pull requests.
Way more than 75 devs! The reported developer base may have shrunk, but it's becoming more professional, and output per developer is up. That's a maturing ecosystem, not one on the verge of collapse.

๐ Solana Metrics Report
Birdeye published a new H1 2026 report on Solana makes the case that the network kept compounding on fundamentals through one of the weakest market stretches in years.
The spot DEX numbers lead the report:
- Solana averaged 54% market share and $425B in monthly trading volume, with total H1 volume reaching $2.55 trillion, up from $1.6 trillion in H1 2025.
- Stablecoin market cap hit $16.36 billion, up 154% since January 2025, and held steady even as trading volume fell.
- Onchain payment volume rose 87% year-over-year, with card payments processing 5x more volume than last year at $420 million.
- Tokenized stocks went from $775M in total volume in H2 2025 to $4.9B in H1 2026.
- Perps hit $255.6B, growing 57% year-over-year against Hyperliquid's 6.4%.
- SOL wallet holders grew 40% to 6.87 million even as price dropped 59%.
Across trading, payments, lending, and new asset classes, the underlying numbers show Solana gaining ground in every direction.
